CAMT offers a number of workshops and lectures designed to enable artists and arts managers to make more efficient and effective use of available technology tools. Some of our recent workshops include:
- Attack of the Pod People: Engaging Your Audience with Audio Podcasts
Podcasting is a key component of an engaging online experience and
great for marketing your program or distributing information or
research. This workshop provides a hands-on introduction to the
recording, editing and online distribution of audio files. Attendees learn how to start and maintain a quality podcast on a limited (or
zero) budget and have an opportunity to create and edit their own mini
podcast episodes. The session presenter provides a detailed
introduction to sound editing software and RSS generation tools, as
well as an overview of the many hardware and software resources
available to podcast producers. - Content Management Systems: Would You? Could You? Should You?
Content management systems (CMS) are making it easier than ever to
create and manage Web site content. Often, once a CMS site is
constructed, administration can be performed by users with limited
technical knowledge (no coding experience necessary) using rich text
editors and graphical, user-friendly interfaces. But how do you get to
that point? This session explores the decision making process arts
organizations should engage in to determine their readiness to move
into a CMS, to navigate the multitude of CMS lines in existence, and to
ensure successful return on investment for a CMS transition. - Technology Planning for Arts Organizations
It is becoming increasingly necessary for arts managers to understand technology and its application in their organizations. Development, marketing, finance, education… every department in an organization requires technology solutions to function efficiently and effectively. This technology planning workshop provides a step-by-step examination of an effective technology planning process, as well as an overview of the major technology concepts with which arts managers should be comfortable. Attendees will use a sample technology plan and organizational case studies to learn the components and strategies of technology planning.
- Web 2.0: Beyond the Buzzword
The buzz around "Web 2.0" technologies continues to grow among arts organizations. This workshop goes beyond the trendy terms and focuses on the practical use of new and emerging Web tools for audience engagement. Attendees learn what tools are available and are presented with an overview of best practices for implementing new Web site features.
